5 Steps to Speed Up Your Computer
These days, it seems like everything runs at an extremely fast pace. Our computers can perform any task in a fraction of the time it would take humans to do it. When our PC runs slowly, it can be very frustrating to deal with. This problem is even worse if your profession requires you to be online at your computer during the day, and your work depends on a fast running machine.
A slow pc will not only make you less productive in your daily activities, but it will waste precious time that you could have been performing and completing other important tasks. Over time, if not corrected or fixed promptly, this slow performance can start to lead to computer crashes.
There are many factors that can and will cause your pc’s performance to deteriorate. At times, it can be very difficult to narrow down the possible problems, but most of the time it is a combination of many factors that contribute to the decrease in speed and performance.
The most common problems that cause a computer to experience problems come from viruses and spyware that will greatly affect your computer’s operation. Other reasons that cause a computer to slowdown are, insufficient memory, hard drive errors, fragmentation issues, registry errors, and not enough RAM for the number of programs you are running.
If you have become completely fed up with your PC’s slow performance, rest assured that there are a lot of things you can do to speed it up and increase its performance. The most obvious way is to upgrade the hardware to newer and faster components. You will want to increase the amount of RAM to greater than 512MB and get a processor whose speed is no less than 1.8GHz.
Those two things should increase speed most of the time. If the computer is still too slow, there are ways to clean it up. The cleanup process isn’t as complicated as it sounds, so here are a few ways to do it to get the PC running faster.
1. Make sure to run your anti-virus software regularly. If yours is out of date, or if you don’t have one, get new, up to date anti-virus software. There are viruses all over on the internet and there’s always a chance your computer could get infected.
2. Get a good Spyware removal program and get rid of all Spyware on a bi monthly basis.
3. Make sure to defragment the computer often. The defragment process is important because it moves files around and makes space for other things.
4. Your computer comes pre-loaded with many programs that you will never use. Take some time and remove all of those programs and free up some space on your computer.
5. Don’t run multiple programs at the same time if you don’t have to. This puts a heavy load on your processor and will always make the computer slower.
These simple steps, when done properly and regularly, can save you a lot of time and money on computer repairs. So stop your computer from acting up and running slow by making sure that you optimize your computer performance on a regular basis.
